New firmware being tested for 50Mb Modem

New VM300 cable modem is being tested to attempt to resolve the following

"The 10.12 Firmware update is intended to relieve the following issues:

1. Cable Modem locks up when multi threaded downloads are used.
2. Cable Modem locks up when Newsgroup clients are used to download data.
3. Cable Modem logs show T3 time outs.
4. Cable Modem logs show TEK Invalid keys.

The new firmware switches off the TurboDOX option on the cable modems which we believe is causing these issues for some of our users. "

Taken from the VM support forum.

Hmmmmm.

Does this mean they have found the cause of the large number of t3's? Or are they simply hiding it from our view

They think they may have, but at least they are trying to resolve it.

Re: New firmware being tested for 50Mb Modem

This is true although tbh, even though i get lots of them, its never seemed to affect my day to day usage even when hitting the newsgroups for those linux distro's

Re: New firmware being tested for 50Mb Modem

I must admit that I love being right having whinged about these issues during periods of heavy usage and blamed TurboDOX a year ago.

All modems show T3's if they occur.

Re: New firmware being tested for 50Mb Modem

A little more on it

"As of early this morning we've pushed this firmware out to a number of modems in that area, specifically those connected to WOKI-CMTS-06."

But forum users have also been told they may be able to try the firmware, I presume dependant on area.

I further presume that they may wish to see if it causes other issues to those that have not suffered from the problem so that a full implementation can be done following the trial.

I could of course be totally wrong. I've asked to participate for the above reason.

I'll keep you posted.
