This week

Anyone watching 'this week' (Beeb 1)? Can Michael Portillo and Diane Abbott get any closer on that three seater sofa?

It gets worse every week

Re: This week

I watch it every week. Brilliant show, if a little cheesy at times.

I like to see how long Abbott can keep her eyes open whilst talking...

Re: This week

I watch it most weeks, and like Dan, Mrs T and I regularly goggle at the close company Diane and Michael seem to be keeping. Not that they always look too chuffed about it, mind.

You would have thought our licence fees could have bought them a slightly bigger sofa.

That sofa can fit Diane three times, but it doesn't stop Michael practically sitting on her lap!

Re: This week

I have a feeling the producers get them to sit close together to get a reaction from them. Close proximity between people who aren't intimate is a good way to push people out of their comfort zone.

Re: This week

Apparently, if the interweb is to be believed, Michael and Diane have known each other since their school days.

Apparently they were both at the same collage together at Oxford, I'd imagine though their extra curricular activities differed somewhat.
As mentioned above its a good watch after question time, I'm sure that Andrew Neill is getting a back-hander from the makers of "Blue Nun", each week he'll manage to get a reference about said wine into the conversation.

That always gives me a little smile, as my uncles family back in Austria grow grapes that end up in Blue Nun.

I agree, I have often thought, "how could she sit so close to him," he would make my skin crawl. But I think it's a production thing. They like to show heads-to-heads, so they have to be that close.

I don't think them at being in an art work together really makes them friends.

I don't know about that tough, they probably fancied the same blokes.
