Channel 129 Dave ja vu
I am noticing that VM Channel 129 which is a kind of +1 for the Dave Channel appears to have a lowish picture rate like what you see on a badly recorded DVD, I am sure there is a technical term for this.
I don't see this problem on Channel 128 which is Dave, but only on 129.
Any else notice this, you do require to look closely however.

Yeah that's it.
Would they be using a lowish bitrate recording for this do you think, funny how it's not like this on Ch 128 though.
I had to record and wait again for a program on 128 again as I didn't want to record the slowish bitrate on 129

Re: Channel 129 Dave ja vu
They tend to have lower bitrates on the "less important" channels to conserve bitrate for other channels I think

I suppose it makes sense on 129 being that it's used for a plus 1, but not if you want to record it, lol

Re: Channel 129 Dave ja vu
Is there anyone to contact at Dave Ja Vu? or should it be Virgin Media I contact?
Channel 4 + 1 don't appear to use low bitrates for the plus hour service, so I wonder why Dave ja vu do?

When you say they, do you mean VM?

Re: Channel 129 Dave ja vu
I checked this afternoon, and at that point the Dave Ja Vu bitrate was substantially higher than that of Dave. Both looked fine to me (both showing Top Gear).
I think you might just have a signal problem on the frequency that carries DJV. Or it might just be variable source quality between programmes. If you have a V+, a good test would be to record the same programme off both channels, then compare the recordings afterwards.

Re: Channel 129 Dave ja vu
I don't have a V+ box, only the standard STB.
I didn't think it was possible for 1 channel out of the rest that would have a signal frequency problem when all the rest look fine.
I have already compared both channels, and the ja vu certainly does have a slowish refresh rate, and is noticed more when the picture is still, so sometimes it can look not too bad while other times it is noticeable.

Maybe you don't watch the others. Other channels on that frequency in your region include Watch+1, GOLD+, Alibi+1 and NatGeo. How do these look?

Re: Channel 129 Dave ja vu
There are no other M-pack channels on that frequency.
Let's try to solve this another way - if is there anyone else in ex-Telewest Scotland reading this, how is the Dave Ja Vu picture quality for you?

Re: Channel 129 Dave ja vu
well i believe the Channels are running via cable, Ran a test on my v+ and they all came out at 6892kbps for all channel's that is not the bitrate but im assuming that means all channels are equal, Not too much of a whiz on the tv service so correct me if im wrong

Re: Channel 129 Dave ja vu
Thanks for testing, however I have to say my eyes don't deceive me, and that there is definitely lower quality video for sure on CH129.
It's not too noticeable if you are sitting a distance from the TV screen, but is noticeable if sitting close.

You're not 'ex-Telewest Scotland' though, according to your profile. (See post #11)
