50MB Broadband now just £18 per month

http://img134.imageshack.us/i/50now18.tif/

Whats this about? When I click on the link it just takes me to the usual page that shows its £50...

What do I need to do to get it for just £18 per month?

---------- Post added at 23:20 ---------- Previous post was at 23:19 ----------

Just gave them a call... Haha, what a joke that was.

The lady on the other end of the phone line did not understand what I was asking(!). Told her that it says on the website that its now been reduced to £18 per month but she said it hasnt.

She said that the £18 per month was for new customers only blah blah blah.

I asked her, if I was actually a new customer, could I take this offer now, she said no as its a misprint and the £18 per month is for new customers only?

Strange, SO, apparently... The £18 is for new customers only, but its a misprint so you cant get it, even if you was a new customer. Work that one out.

I guess I will have to wait till tomorrow and call again and speak to a UK based person.

Re: 50MB Broadband now just £18 per month

The other two broadband services have 3 month offers when you take them out with a phone line - £9 off L and £10 off XL for 3 months. It's likely that the £18 is a similar short term offer from the new lower price of £28 on top of a VM phone line

It looks like whoever deals with the website has changed the front page too early. Will no doubt be fixed by the morning

Re: 50MB Broadband now just £18 per month

This is very confusing .... I think whoever works for VM in their marketing department needs hanging up.
I thought I read that 50MB is now £28 + £11 telephone line rental, as I'm on L (10MB) then I'm paying £25 for a 10MB service already and then £11 telephone line rental already...
So for £3 I can go up to 50MB and have all the online storage for photos etc that I need
However when I try to use the upgrade tool on the vm website then I still get offered 50MB for £35 ...
How do I get 50MB for £28? Although I must admit a £18 would be nice - and that is confusing itself!

IIRC the £28 price change comes into effect today. You are correct the site does say £18 on the first page click the link and it still says £35

Re: 50MB Broadband now just £18 per month

Just phoned CS - was told that £25 for 10MB is correct as I have 3 services and get £22 discount ... and always see full price for broadband as being £25 for 10MB.

So these wonderful price cuts are pretty useless to me!

Re: 50MB Broadband now just £18 per month

Because the 50Mbit will show on the bill as £45 with a £17 discount so does cost more than you are paying

On Twitter @virginmedia is saying that the new pricing applies to new and exisitng customers and describes it as "a tier price drop"

Yes the £28 price (after discounts) does apply to everyone.

The 3 month offer of £18 won't

Ben,

Any chance you know when we are going to be able to upgrade online? After the 'big launch' it seems no one was ready

Website states:

Quote:
Upgrade to Virgin Media broadband: Size XXL £52 per month subscription
Your continued support is much appreciated!

Haven't a clue. I wouldn't risk it until they fix it

Re: 50MB Broadband now just £18 per month

Cheers.

Managed to get away from work and call to upgrade on the phone. First install date they have though was next Friday (11th) and they seem to be going fast. All fine and good reducing the price but if there is no ability to cope with installation demand it's kinda pointless

Re: 50MB Broadband now just £18 per month

Ive just tried to upgrade from XL BB, XL TV, and M phone (which I get for £51.50) and they are saying that even if I downgrade the TV to L I will still pay 9.50 more?

Aren't the offers on bundles for everybody?

It doesnt make sense, especially as they say I get a £20 discount which brings me down to the 51.50 in the first place.

On the website, it says that XXL BB, L TV and M phone is 38, plus 11 for phone, which would be 49.

Why is it so different? Can someone explain.

Re: 50MB Broadband now just £18 per month

At the moment Customer Services cannot downgrade one service whilst upgrading another.

So they can only offer XXL BB, XL TV and M phone for £60.50.

You might have better luck speaking to Sales or Customer Relations who will be able to downgrade your TV whilst upgrading the broadband to XXL

So this is the standard price at the moment after the price drop today?!

Because between the savings on my bill and the phone calls, I was getting confused.

Many thanks for this nugget of info

Re: 50MB Broadband now just £18 per month

That to me makes sense, but why couldnt they have told me that? I dont mind paying a bit more for the XXL broadband, but the such big difference with no explanation was starange. It was sales I spoke to (i think) so I will have to speak to retentions (is that the same as customer relations?).

I think Virgin seriously need to rethink their pricing strategies. Giving a new customer a discount for three months or even six to me is fair, but having no real comparative prices is a real pain for the same services.

The loyalty discount doesnt actually look like a loyalty discount at all, not even a discount, its the price you save by getting a bundle. A bit naughty if you ask me.

If they say you can buy 'three for £30' and then on your bill it says £51 less 'loyalty discount' of £21, that to me shouldn't even be on your bill. It should just be the £30.

If the price for a bundle that I want is £49 online, then thats what I should be charged. Any 'new deal' discounts should be on top of that.

Am I right?
