Can't Shutdown

Hiya all

Well it is a rare thing that I shut down my pc normally gets a reboot every 2days or when I am cleaning everything up on it, today was removing the 2nd montior ready for when my girlfriends new pc arrives. To do this I shut mine down as I would clean the inside with a air can, it goes to the Windows shutting down screen and hangs, 10minutes later and it is still hanging.

I am on Xp Home sp2 with a few tweaks such as automatic updates turned off, and themes turned off ( did this, in this morning to help with resources being a bit low )

Anyone got any ideas or does it sound like my copy of Xp Home is falling apart?
