RJ45 cable

Hi

I'm thinking of going back to using wired lan instead of my wireless (unstable)
and some time ago i brought a RJ45 cable think its this 1 LINK
not 100% sure
writing on the cable says:
UTP CAT.5 ENHANCED FT4 RoHs Compliant

but it didn't work (no lights on router or network card)
the router ports and network card are working as i tried with other cable (using for other PCs)

did i brought a wrong cable (which i think i did)
and what specs i should look for next time i order 1

thanks for any help

Re: RJ45 cable

Cable should be ok as far as I can see - might just be a damaged cable...

Can you send it back for a replacement.

Re: RJ45 cable

Cable looks fine to me should work try checking the cable is wired at the ends the same as other cables you have as there are two cable standards EIA/TIA 568A and 568B probably not the problem but you never know.

Re: RJ45 cable

Sounds possible the cable is buggered. Check the NIC in the PC is enabled though - it's possible if you've been using Wireless, you (or somebody else) disabled the network card; the driver might not attempt to bring up the link if not.

Easiest way to check is in device manager. If it has a red cross on it, it's disabled.

Find another ethernet cable and test that too. That's your best bet.

Re: RJ45 cable

was some time ago that i brought the cable
and never bothered to get a refund cause i brought it online when i was buying other stuff
didn't wanted to bother with delivering it back

wiring colour looks the same on both ends
checked the router and network card before
but they were fine
must been a broken cable or something

just wanted to know if i brought wrong cable
cause next time i order something i might order a cable with the order
and i don't want to get a wrong 1
but I'm not really in a hurry to get 1
