50 years ago today the music died.

Today is the 50th anniversary of the death in a plane crash of Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper and Ricky Valens.

Gone, but never forgotten.

But something touched me deep inside
The day the music died." - Don McLean-American Pie

when I saw the thread title I assumed it was in reference to the day Cliff Richard released his first single.

Re: 50 years ago today the music died.

He was a bit overated IMO. He may have gone on to be great.

Reached legendary status by dying young and tragically.

A musical James Dean.

Also, Waylon Jennings gave up his seat to the Big Bopper. Just before they flew Buddy said to Waylon "I hope your bus freezes up!", and Waylon said "Yeah, well I hope your plane crashes". Although it was just jokey banter between friends, it haunted him for years afterwards.

I might have been.. What's 6 months at that age?

She could have been 14. All I know is there's 8 years age difference between us.
