Heartbeat is not repert not being axed what's happend is thay have a stockpile of unbroadcast Episodes that thay wanna air more than a series worth in fact.before thay Go in to production of new ones this story of the show being axed is silly talk.hartbeat is a Mainsteam show for ITV and can pull in big numbers of viewers every week even in hard times Like this it's still i key part of there sunday schedule.

Re: itv shows to be axed and cut down

I stopped watching The Bill the moment it became a ridiculous soap instead of a damned good drama.

Anyway it used to on only once a week when it first started and then for an hour.It was an excellent show then.

Re: itv shows to be axed and cut down

Losing Heartbeat, The Bill, and The Royal is very sad, Losing Heartbeat is like losing Corrie, which too me is getting very boring and stale and should get chopped, and replaced with shows like The Practice.

The Royal, is an updated version of Emergency Ward Ten, as l cannot stand Casualty, l don't know what happened to The Royal Today, but losing episodes of The Bill, this drama went down hioll, when Burnside left, and they have not replaced a main charactor to fill his shoes, l think what they should do is a complete overhaul and restart with new main charactors, you could have an updated version of Heartbeat for example, as this drama is always a hit with viewers, nothing like Dixon of course.

Well The Bill is getting a relaunch, so maybe they will bring in a decent main character.

It used to be three times a week a while back.

I, like Maggy stopped watching The Bill a while back as it has turned into an other silly soap. Hopefully by cutting down to one episode a week and making it post water shed it will get back the drama it used to have.

It's more expensive to do three rather than two episodes (you need more crew, more characters, more actors and extra writers), and when they did do three episodes, they didn't get enough viewers to justify the extra expense.

Excellent. Back to 30 minutes, once a week, and I may start watching it again. Turning it into a bloated, hour-long soap opera was the worst thing they could have done to it.
