speed

I have 2 computers setup via my Linksys Router.

1st computer is next to the router with a short lead to it
2nd computer is in another room with a long lead between 50 and 100 foot long and it a bit slower to load pages, but speedtest seem fine.

Could the wire length have anything to do with the 2nd PC being slow or, do I need to look at the settings

Re: speed

Or could it be down to the cable being damaged, as I noticed when I put it down the case or a part of the cable was broken open.

The lead is about a year old

D'oh yer foot
Also the PC has just had windows xp home installed and updated to SP3

The better spec PC is the 1st one which is a dual core with 2gb ram
2nd PC is a P4 3.2ghz with 1gb ram

Re: speed

Swap them and see what happens. I think the lower spec will be slower.
