Flickering enet-send-recv lights

Hi

I'm getting continually flickering enet send and recv lights on my VirginMedia modem ... numbers underneath say it's an Ambit (256, I think) and my service is 20Mb.

Any ideas?

Re: Flickering enet-send-recv lights

Is the modem conecting to the computer directly or does it go via a router?

If it goes via a router the router conected to the computer via cable or wireless?

Blinks away like crazy on my modem, I put it down to the usual noise from the VM network, ARP broadcasts and stuff.

Re: Flickering enet-send-recv lights

Enet flashing means the modem is talking to your computer

Send flashing means the modem is talking to the Virgin network

Receive flashing means the network is talking to the modem

Completely normal and nothing to worry about.

Yep, mine is going at it constantly even when I know there is nothing going on. I have a router / firewall connected to CM, previously I had an ADSL modem and the lights on that only flashed when there was real traffic. My firewall traffic stats do not show constant traffic or any spikes so I guess it's just the modem (Ambit 256).
