I am looking for a program to show total power usage on a pc before i get my power hungry 4870X2 to make sure my psu can handle it ok. Does anyone know of any programs that do this. Thanks in advance for any help .

There is no such thing, however, you can buy plug sockets that measure power draw

You can also use PSU calculators, but their accuracy, is not exactly... well.. Accurate

Re: Power usage program ??

Yes it was due to using a PSU calculator that i wanted to know as 3 i have used have told me my system shouldn't be working now let alone when i get the 4870X2 lol. Thier accuracy is woeful and thats being polite. Ah well guess i will take a chance and just see if i need to get a new psu it will mean upping the cuddles quota with the missus .

Re: Power usage program ??

Get the OCZ ModXstream 780 watt if you are not running loads of drives. That psu handles a 4870 5 hdds 3 optical a Q9450 and a P5Q mobo

Re: Power usage program ??

I've got a kingwin mach1 700w currently running a Q9450 oc'd to 3.2, 8gig of ocz ram, 3 hd's, two optical drives, 7800gtx and 3 120 & 1 92mm fans so i think i should be ok people with lower psu's are saying they have no problems running a 4870X2 with that sort of spec i have now read on other forums. Would be nice to be 100% sure but i guess you never are these days although one psu calculator told me i needed 860w for the system i will have and then kindly directed me to where i could buy a nice new psu that matched that lol.
