Virgin Media, plagued by a recent flurry of bad publicity thanks to its policy of working with the music industry to warn file-sharers, has announced today that there is “absolutely no possibility” that it will disconnect its users from the Internet or hand over their details to the music industry............Virgin Media has also stated that it will not hand over the personal details of anyone accused by the BPI “under any circumstances”

You'll probably find the site's blocked through your coporate system as it's a Torrent related site.

Re: Virgin Media: ‘Absolutely No Possibility’ of Disconnecting File-Sharers
i was abit nafted off when i heard about the warning letters coming through. i told my fiancee to stop downloading music due to warning letters coming through and threats of disconnection.
i pay alot of money for virgin broadband/tv and i dont like the idea of being told what i can and cant do with it. for example the capping, why should we be capped. the only way they could possibly stop file sharing is to block torrent programs on there networks then we cant connect or run the application on our computers.
just think its pathetic how they can send out threating letters about cutting our internet off.
i previously had NTL before virgin took over and i had no problems whats so ever or any threatning letters from them, virgin have just beentaking the **** out of us all since they have taken over.
virgin media 1 out of 10 for me

Re: Virgin Media: ‘Absolutely No Possibility’ of Disconnecting File-Sharers
With regards to file sharing...ive only ever seen one case of VM disclosing personal info...
This was when a small solicitors company managed to get a warrant for the account numbers of certain people...

So, sending out the letters is a complete waste of time and money then.

Not exactly...Virgin still have your details, so if a warrant is requested and approved details could be passed on...
and if Virgin do follow this scheme through, it may not be necessary to pass anything on. From what i have heard they would just implement their own 3 strike system whereby the first two times you are caught your services would be temporarily restricted and then on the third instance of being caught your account could be fully disconnected and charged for the remainder of the contract period if there is one in place....
The 'no possibility of disconnecting customer's' is referring to at the moment...as VM sent a lot of letters stating 'Please read or you could have your services restricted' This was a mistake...
Only provisional though. Nothing has been set in stone.

Re: Virgin Media: ‘Absolutely No Possibility’ of Disconnecting File-Sharers
I doubt that the 3 strike rule will be implentmented as Virgin would loose the main customer base plus the amount of law suits against Virgin for wronly accusing people would massive.
