Question Planning on swapping parts and PC around?

I have a server in my pantry running on a lot better stuff than the Medion PC in my bedroom, i was going to swap them over and take the TV TUner and Graphics card out of the medion and put them in my server, the the medion will become a server and the server will become my PC in my bedroom, will it work?

Re: Planning on swapping parts and PC around?

Maybe, maybe not.

Are the graphics card slots in the two PCs compatible? i.e are they both PCI-e or something else? Do both PCs actually have separate graphics cards that aren't inbuilt to the moterhboard?

You'd have to load the respective drivers and any other software on each PC. Are those available for the OS versions each PC runs?

Is this a much bigger job though? Are both PCs running the right type of OS for your intended use, or would you need to reinstall everything as well?

Ive had a look inside the medion (never have bofore) and its all more or less built into the case, the GFX and TV Tuner are PCI, i also needed a WLAN but there was no sight of that, so im imagining its built into the motherboard

So ill leave it as it is and maybe get some more RAM sometime. My dad has promised me a new load of parts for christmas, so ill live for now
