Question HDCP Question

Our setup to view video content was the following..
PC with 7600gt with dual DVI out. DVI to DVI for the PC monitor and DVI to HDMI for the 26" tv. Set as Dualview.

While we had the 7600gt card in whenever we opened a video file it would open in a window on the PC monitor and full screen on the 26".
The driver version at that time was 162.18 (latest from nvidia)

We changed the graphics card yesterday to a 8600gts, same driver version but removed and re-installed. Now the problem, whenever we open a video, instead of opening in a window on the PC monitor and full screen on the TV we get a window opens on the PC monitor and nothing on the TV, we then have to drag the window onto the TV's desktop and then double click to open it full screen to view content.
Sometimes though when we drag the window across the image will turn grey and we then drag it back onto the PC monitor and back again to the TV and the image is displayed. We also have Ultramon which we use CTRL+F1 to move window from PC to TV and back again, this still doesnt solve the problem where as it was capable of moving a window with video content to the TV and it automatically went to full screen. What we would like is for the Gcard to display video content like it did before without the faffing about to get it full screen without putting the old card back in.

Would I be right to assume that the problem may be because where the old graphics card was HDCP compatible the newer card is HDCP compliant and the way the signal is processed and passed on by the 8600gts is different to that of the 7600gt.

I hope I was clear enough with my question

If anyone could shed some light onto this I would be greatful, or if there is any additional info needed to help me solve this problem just ask.

TIA

Al

Re: HDCP Question

you need to go into the gfx cards control panel and reenable the secondary display and set it to clone. If you control it by looking at the tv leave it on clone if you do not have a gander around for theater mode and try that as you get full screen out your secondary and can still use the pc monitor with video in a window

Re: HDCP Question

Having it on clone view works but it means that either of us cant use the PC while watching a vid.

Cant find theatre mode, assuming its in the nvidia control panel.

Using ultramon I can ctrl+F1 to move it to tv and ctrl+F2 to full screen it.

A little bit more to do other than double clicking a file and bosh its there, i'll keep looking, thanks for the input M8
