Do you have a laptop as your main pc?
Just wondering as ive just replaced my aging base with a lappy. It just seemed tidier and more versatile. Most of the time it will be kind of used as a base unit anyway with an external bigger keyboard and mouse plugged in.
I'm just wondering if it might be detrimental to use it in this way? i.e are lappys meant/designed for longer term use ? i guess lots of people just leave them on all the time anyway and office bound workers use them long term in desktop docking platforms etc? Mine just goes to sleep when not in use and does nothing/doesnt get warm etc..any thoughts?

As long as you look after it you will be fine. Ie dont use it in bed on your lap cuz it will just suck dust off the quilt etc.

I bought one of these trays: http://1800wheelchair.co.uk/asp/view...product_id=480 it's large enough to hold a 15.4 inch laptop with room for the mouse as well.

My primary machine for work is a laptop and it's switched on for prolonged periods (days at a time) on a regular basis. As Zing says, as long as you site it sensibly: well ventilated and in a non dusty environment, you shouldn't have a problem.

MacBook Pro is my main PC, usually sits on the arm of a chair but the good battery life means it moves with me if I feel like sitting somewhere else for a bit. If it's busy I've got the Mac mini server upstairs, but that's a lot less comfortable to use.

Re: Do you have a laptop as your main pc?
My main desktop is a PC because I play games and also I find using a desktop on a desk with a full keyboard, mouse and monitor to be more productive for work.
I do use a Powerbook for just general use. I leave mine on all the time but put it into sleep mode when not being used.

I have one of those (I believe). A good bit of kit . Not too heavy for a 15" lappy, but it does get kind of warm underneath.
