DVD player when HDMI is used on V+

Hi All,
Have been a reader of the forums for a while and have lots of help from them so thanks for that.

My question is: I have had the V+ box installed and am very impressed so far. The only issue i am finding is that it is connected to my Samsung HD tv via HDMI and this is fantastic. Do the scart outputs from the V+ box get turned of in this case as i am trying to put my new surround sound DVD player/recorder in and cant seem to get a picture from the V+. My thought was that the Scart output for the Recorder from the V+ box would still be active. If it is not active how can I connect my DVD Recorder to the V+ box.

Connect it to the vcr scart and use the copy to vcr/dvd function in the TVDrive menu.

This means you can only record programs stored on the v+, plus the vcr output doesn't show any menus.
