Arrow Installing the cables around the house...

Okay first time poster, but I'd like some help please!

Well basically when u first get new internet/tv whatever the company (for me telewest back in those days) installed the cables around the house (and did a pretty neat job) they kind of stapled (sp?) the wires to the wall and stuff.

Well I'm installing a 20meter ethernet cable and need to do the same thing (by myself of course) but what tool can I use to actually get the cables stapled to the walls and stuff? any specefic tool I should buy?

thx in advance..

Re: Installing the cables around the house...

Hi and to the forums.

I've used some little bracket things that you can get from Wilkinsons.
Can't think of the name of them but they look like the one I have badly drawn below. They work quite well.
Just use a hammer and the nails come provided.

Apparently theres a wilkinsons store 1.2 miles away from me (which i didn't know, had to check the site hehe) so I'll take a look there. could you tell me what price I'm looking at to purchase these? thanks.
(idealy having the staple like things are ideal as they are tiny) but i know what tool you're referring to Halcyon, I have some stuck to my wall as well.

And to other forum users, please tell me if you know of anything else that can help

Re: Installing the cables around the house...

About £1.50 or less for a pack of cable clips last time I checked.

the ethernet cable make sure it is water proof.but do not put the ethernet cable too near the other cables as it will interfere withn the ethernet cable and a staple gun will not work unless it is wood or plastic but if u get size 6 clips for the ethernet then you will be sorted m8

Huh? Waterproof Ethernet Cable!? I should hope so too! And as for running it by other cables, ive run Ethernet Cables in Conduit with mains and Sky cables with no problems.

Yeah as Zeph said I have my ethernet cables all over the place literally touching all my other wires in the back of the computer, i doubt it'll cause interference because it isn't sending wireless signals or anything, it is direct cable to cable.

Interesting.. but expensive at the same time I guess I'll try the first option then move to this if I need to, thanks

No doubt there will be some EM Interference but unless you live next door to someone who dabbles in a bit of Arc Welding, you probably won't notice any problems.
