Not padding the recordings?

Anyone else have this problem? Got the V+ box on Thursday and for the most part it's okay (aside from the rebooting and lockups between 12:30 and 1:30am, but I was expecting some problems of that type). The problem I'm having is that I've set it to extend recordings by 5 minutes pre the record and 10 minutes post the record, and it's not actually padding them at all. Is there something I haven't done, or is this yet another glitch that needs to be fixed on the update next week?

Thanks in advance.

I had that problem and after reseting the box it seemed to be working ok.

Have you got other programmes set to record around the same time? If necessary, the box will drop the padding so it can record both programmes.

Also, I think there is/was a bug reported, that if you set series links, and then set the padding, the padding won't work for series links that you've created before setting the padding.

I'm sure I ran into this once - I just deleted the series links and re-added them, and from then on padding was added correctly for those series links.

Hope this helps.

Thanks both - to the first poster, yes I have reset the box and that didn't work.

To the above poster - I do know about dropping the padding in recordings set to clash with each other, but it wasn't doing for any. I suspect the answer is in the 2nd part of what you said. I set the series links and then set the padding. Shall go and delete the links then reset and see if that helps.

Thanks SO much!!

Re: Not padding the recordings?

Hmmm Well I deleted all my programmes, set the padding, then programmed them all in again, but that doesn't seem to have made a difference. It's not adding anything extra at the beginning or end, which is a bit of a pain as sometimes the actual programme starts a few seconds before recording (have always had this problem so have always added an extra minute or two before and after and in the past have usually set the previous programme so it's on the right channel).

Any other ideas?

Hoping it's just something that will fix with an upgrade.

Re: Not padding the recordings?

Hi Quam - yes it is

Curiouser and Curiouser. I'm back to the theory it's to do with multiple recordings. When it's a single recording (which I've just now watched a couple of) it seems to be padding some (not necessarily what I've set). When I've got it set for two (so it would drop the padding in the middle) it seems to also drop the padding before the first show and after the 2nd show. I would have thought it would only drop the padding between where it would clash, but seems to drop it all...

So I guess it's working ok then, but strange it drops the before and after bits when they're not part of the conflict.

Re: Not padding the recordings?

Yeah it does drop all padding if there are any overlaps
eg
21:00-21:30 FTN
21:00-22:00 MTV2
22:00-23:00 ITV4

If there are 2 programmes starting at the same time and there is no other recording set that overlaps the 2 recordings the padding will be recorded
