The signal shouldn't be reduced.

Re: Moving STB

will there be a problem if a fault occurs in the future. IE will engineer make a silly excuse like it should have been moved by NTL.

Re: Moving STB

Oh, I thought you wanted the STB to be moved by an engineer. I'm not sure if they will make any excuses in the future. I wouldn't have thought they would complain about it.

Re: Moving STB

Best thing to do is to ring CS and ask them if they would move it or whether you could do it.

Re: Moving STB

Ideally the cable should be extended / changed by the virgin media installers / engineers. Standard coaxial satellite type cables available in the DIY stores, aren't as well shielded as that used by the cable companies. DIY type connections are often inadequate in terms of electrical connectivity. Thus there is a risk that your own extended cable might not work very well.

Having said that I recently needed to alter my room layout, and the DIY satellite (screw thread) cable extension seems to be working OK.

I'd advise a screw thread extension, rather than attempting any permanent joint. That way you can easily revert if there is an issue.
