Software for PDA
Can someone help. My pal (who is more computer illiterate than me) has been given a HP / Compaq H3850 PDA. I would assume that the previous owner has wiped it clean and maybe even formatted away any OS it had. It is recognised by PC but in the hand has no OS on it at all.
What is required to get this up and running ie. PDA OS, PC Outlook type application, Syncing software etc.
Please help with even the most basic of info.

iPaq3850
And the ActiveSync page
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/default.mspx
And to make it run, probably Pocket PC 2002

Re: Software for PDA
Afaik You can't remove the OS - its in the ROM!
It may be the battery is fubar and it will only run while powered (from the USB cradle).
Check the battery status while it is cradled.

Good point - I had a couple of iPaqs which I gave away on the CF a few months ago, and most of the batteries were dead. I think people got replacement batteries of eBay.

on the other hand - after a few charges the battery in the one you sent me was just fine
A couple of other thoughs.... Some pda's have a bit of ram set aside that survives a hard reset. And some can also wipe their 'rom' as in those cases it's an eprom that can be reflashed to a new OS....

Re: Software for PDA
I still use my HP 3850
Is it possible to flash the ROM and this could have fubar'd the OS
