Re: Change My Telewest Broadband IP Address

Begs the question of why but there are ways depending on how you currently connect. Are you connecting via USB or ethernet and do you use a router?

What operating system are you running? Have you tried powering your SACM/ STB down for a few mins or even overnight?

Re: Change My Telewest Broadband IP Address

I'm using Windows XP HOME EDITION and whats SACM/ STB ???

---------- Post added at 08:23 ---------- Previous post was at 08:22 ----------

can u explain this in the right order please.

Go into device manager and then the properties of the network card. In the "advanced" section there is an option to change the network address/ physical address/ mac address. Check the current mac address using ipconfig /all from a command prompt and then increase the mac address by one digit. Reboot everything and you should have a new ip

Re: Change My Telewest Broadband IP Address

Well a sensible question would be "why do you need to change it" ?

Re: Change My Telewest Broadband IP Address

I thought I'd ask it again to reiterate since the OP doesn't seem to know much else about the workings of TCP/IP apart from the fact he/she needs to change the address for some reason.

Re: Change My Telewest Broadband IP Address

Depending on how subscribed you area is, 9 times out of 10 your modem will just pick your existing IP again.

Re: Change My Telewest Broadband IP Address

Rapidshare is a pain in the behind for actually picking up proxy IP addresses etc. Do you upload to rapidshare or download?
