Email Account
I neeeeeeeeeeed Help!!
I have been having problems recently picking up my mail via OE. I couldnt decide whether it was my account, or my McAfee
So, In my infinate wisdom, I deleted the account, with the plan to re-create it. But I cant!, The server is saying I need to use 6 characters, as opposed to the 4 that I was using. I really need this account live again, so any help will be gratefully recieved.

Re: Email Account
As far as I remember it has always been 6 characters min, have you deleted the account in OE or via the NTL web site?
You may need to phone tech support for them to confirm your password, but this could be a long one with all the people phoning re the upgrade speed.

Re: Email Account
6 characters for the user name. It was L.HM and has been for while
I deleted it from the ntl website and it won't let me re-create it.
I have phoned TSB Swansea, they said nothing the can do, need someone who administers the servers

I thought you were referring to a password, normally if an email account stops working I just dell it from the email client, close it down, reopen and reset the account. This if I can still access the account via webmail
Regarding setting up an email address I have just tried and was able to input fe in the first box a c in the second box giving me fe.c@ntlworld which was accepted with a default password, I then tried to change the password and then it gave me the message that the user name has to be at least six characters. So it looks like you will not be able to have the same address.
The guy at tech support gave you that answer, as he canââ‚Âà ‚¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢t change what has been set on the server.

Re: Email Account
To go back to the reason that you may not have been able to download your email into OE,maybe due to stupid spammers putting characters like this ???? in the address and subject lines. When this happens there is only one way to deal with it.Go to Webmail and delete the offending email.
Hope you get your email addy/inbox back soon.

Yup I had this about two months ago and it went on for two weeks which was a real pain, The silly thing was it only affected my NTL accounts. I was just about to forward the NTL accounts to one of my domain accounts when it just stopped.

Interesting. Are we talking McAfee Spamkiller here? If so, I had the same problem last summer. All of a sudden nothing came through OE, but I could see my emails via web mail. Eventually I discovered that it was down to McAfee Spamkiller. I deleted McAfee, reinstalled it then, following advice from McAfee, downloaded any available updates. This worked for a while but, a couple of months ago, the same problem arose. So, I uninstalled McAfee and solved the problem again. My intention is to find a more reliable spam killer.

Got it in one!
I too have reinstalled McAfee, updated it, but I still had the problem. But it only affected one account ( I have 5 ) So, I started to think it was the account hence the reason I deleted it.
The only time I have ever lost a mail account, and have never been able to get it back was when Tiscali took over Line One, and I have have never done business with them again!
I thought NTL where better than them
