Intermitant Internet Access
i have had intermitant internet access for a number of weeks, most of the time it cuts out for a few seconds but sometimes its a lot longer
i telephoned NTL 'customer services' who sent round a engineer, who said various connections needed replacing, which he did
before leaving he said if the problems persist the network people will look into it
so the problem persists and i call NTL 'customer services' who deny any knowledge of any engineer visit and insist that my internet access is fine
after explaining the meaning of the word 'intermitant' to them, they insist that i should disable my firewall and virus checker, permanently
so im faced with customer service people who cant speak english properly and seem to follow a flowchart when it comes to customer services
what should i do?

Im guessing by this it means shed a little more light on the exact problem.
I.E. Are you using a Stand Alone Cable Modem or Set Top Box to connect.
How are you connecting Etherner or USB.
What Operating System are you using etc.
What are the status of the lights on the Cable Modem or STB when the connection drops etc etc.
Post back as there are many helpful peeps here.

Hi and to the forums.
I am having the same problems as you and it is annoying to put it mildly. Take a look at my thread here and try to give those details it helps also if you PM BBKing your MAC number he has a program he wrote that can monitor your connection and gives him details that can help solve it. BBK does work for NTL and between Ignition and BBK it can be sorted.

Re: Intermitant Internet Access
Krasny Feel free to Private Message the mac address to BBKing, but never post such information publicly on the forum.
Not sure how to private message someone? Click on BBKing's nickname on his post and a drop down menu should appear, select 'Send a private message to BBKing'.
Hope this helps.

Re: Intermitant Internet Access
Hi Krasny,
Im guessing you have PM your MAC address to one of the ones that work for NTL which should answer the query.
However you can also take a look here
Run the diagnostics applicable to your modem when the connection drops and post back here with the results but remove the IP or MAC address.
