Recording using Diary

Like many people I have a VCR which can be put into a mode where it records when the SCART input is active (pin 8). This almost - but not quite! - works with my Pace digibox (Langley). I put the programmes I want into the Diary and put the STB on standby. Sure enough, when the first programme starts the STB switches on and the VCR starts to record. Unfortunately the box doesn't power down at the end so the tape just runs out and the subsequent programmes don't get recorded (unless they happen to begin just after the first one).

I called ntl about this but they couldn't help. Anyone else tried this and, if so, had better luck?

can't the VCR be set to record several events to synchronate with the STB events - not ideal but works after a fashion
