Scart Problems

Just found this site and hoping I can get some help. Just moved house and NTL changed STB to Samsung. Have a Sony 300 RDVD linking into 5 year old Sanyo widescreen with 2 scarts. Scart 1 is standard RGB/video, Scart 2 has SVideo capability. When plugging STB or RDVD into scart 1 the OSD changes from its normal colour of yellow to dark green. OSD menus are hardly visible (transparent) unplug from scart 1 and fit old VCR - No problem. Therefore STB now connected to RDVD that is then linked to scart 2 on TV - no problems. Am I missing something basic here ? as far as I can remember the old Pace box was fine in scart 1.
p.s. picture quality behind OSD is fine through scart 1 - just seems that STB and RDVD pull down the OSD ??
Thanks in advance for any help or advice

Re: Scart Problems

it might be that the STB isn't setup to output in RGB.. not sure of the menu settings on the samsung but try going into Guide. then TV settings then display settings and sure you are outputting in RBG and not composite..

not sure if that is correct for samsung boxes did a quick search but couldn't find anything

Re: Scart Problems

Tried the above last night. Had to go into program details then settings. Appears the settings button is not yet enabled on Samsung STB remote. Anyway back to the main point, set the STB output to both RGB then composite to try, same thing in that OSD output level seems to be dragged down. One other thing I did notice in case it gives another clue - when you first switch the TV to scart 1 the whole picture is very dark for about 3 seconds, the picture rapidly recovers but the OSD does not. Maybe it is time for a new TV but worried that if I buy one the new will have the same problem if it is a STB/RDVD issue
