Having trouble finding a new computer

I'm after a new PC for my mum, she wants it so she can work from home and for surfing the net. Her spending limit for the PC (with monitor) is about £750!

I've been looking all over the place for a prebuilt PC (as I really don't have the time or expertise to build one myself) but can't find one that matches the spec I'm looking for.

Ideally I'd like to get as close to the following spec as possible.

15" (pref 17") TFT monitor
2.8Ghz Pent 4 processor
512Mb RAM
80Gb HDD
DVD+RW
64Mb Graphics card (nothing fancy, its not for gaming)
Onboard sound (again only for net surfing)
3+ PCI slots
5+ USB 2.0 ports
Standard Mouse and Keyboard
XP Home
Tower case
Onboard LAN

I know where I'm going to source her router and printer from, its just the PC I'm having trouble with, anyone got any ideas?

Re: Having trouble finding a new computer

I have always found novatech to be very reasonable, with good service.

Most of your specs in this range, even the cheaper Matrix range seem to cover most bases.

Also a good selection of monitors.

Re: Having trouble finding a new computer

I would check out the following places:
www.novatech.co.uk
www.savastore.com
HP shop on Ebay (good as new 'refurb' or end of line PC's)

Not sure how close you'll get with the monitor to £750 for a big P4 - you get better value with an Athlon XP

I'd agree with Aragorn.... is there any reason why you're looking at Intel? AMD is cheaper and easily comparable performance-wise. Considernig your budget, I'd go for an Athlon

Re: Having trouble finding a new computer

For that budget you should be able to get a very good PC, indeed I think your minimum spec can be improved on:
