Remote Control Disable - How?
I am trying to find a way to disable the remote control function on my samsung stb. I have a second stb which is in the bedroom and linked with a digisender. all works fine, except when i use the remote control, both boxes change channel. I use one for videoing, so i can watch a different channel on the other. There is a setting in the engineers menu, (i think) but when i change it to disabled, it reverts back to the default setting when stb is rebooted. Anyone got any info or ideas?? Many thanks in advance

There's a front-panel combination for Pace boxes, but I don't know about Samsung ones.

Put something infront of the IR sensor on the STB?
I used to put a CD case (with the ilnay card) infront of mine to stop myself changing channels when recording something!!!
A book would also do the trick, just something to block the signal getting to it.

hi and to the site , tbh i have no idea if what you want is achievable , as a short term measure go with MikeyB's idea until someone lets you into the secret , if indeed there is one

How often do you have to reset your box, for it to be tecious to go through the engineering menu?

Re: Remote Control Disable - How?
the box has to be rebooted to get out of the engineers menu, thus the setting is lost immediately

Pressing, and holding down the †œTVÃƒÂ¢à ¢â€šÂ¬Ã‚ÂÂ, †œOKÃƒÂ¢à ¢â€šÂ¬Ã‚Â and †œUpÃƒÂ¢à ¢â€šÂ¬Ã‚Â buttons together on the front panel of the set-top box causes the set-top box to stop receiving commands from the remote control or keyboard. Unplugging the box from the mains and plugging it back in again will return the box to its normal state.
