Hi, I've had my box in the conservatory, but its getting to cold in there so I brought it into one of the living rooms, about 10 mins ago, it had been fine until this point, but now when I power up it just goes to pace and then nit and stays on nit
Any help appreciated

Re: nit ??!?! Please help
I thought I had a dyslexic box too. Turns out NIT = Network Information Table. All boxes have to go through it before starting up. If yours stays on it for more than a couple of mins, then your box is bust, I had it happen to me. If you leave it long enough, you might get "ERRXX" come up which might help you diagnose your problem. Sounds like your box is dead though.

Re: nit ??!?! Please help
It means, AFAIR, that it cannot find the table that tells the box what channels it should be receiving. You mention that the conservatory was getting cold. If it was sufficiently cold and you moved it into the warm without letting the box get used to the temperature change before powering up you may have got some condensation inside the box. Not that likely as it probably isn`t cold enough but a possibility.

11 and 12 is what I got. It was during the great heatwave of 03, when the temperature damaged the internal storage drive. The engineer came out, gave me a new box and it all worked again.
Although the codes change depending on what box you have. Mine was a 2000 series.

Re: nlt??!?! Please help
Is there no way of fixing the box myself? I doubt its condensation its not THAT cold in there, lol, it seems a bit odd that it happened because I moved it?? I really cant be bothered dealing with ntl CS, would much preferto be able to sort it myself, heres a picture of the box

Re: nlt??!?! Please help
Check the cable to the box, I thought this indicated that the signal wasn't getting back to NTL ...

Re: nlt??!?! Please help
The cable seems fine, I plugged it back in the conservatory but it says nit in there aswell now, when I walked in on the screen it had stopped saying nit and had the power indicator on and said on screen something along the lines of 'Your STB is currently having problems, and a reset is recomended, I can browse through the channels, but I get the bar and no picture...

Are you by any chance using one of those 3-in-1 SCART connectors to connect your STB (and other devices) to the TV?

B*gger means to sodomize so it is rather regarded by older people as a swear word.Best not to use it.
Incog.
