Newbie can't connect DVD to TV thru NTL

Could anyone please answer this?
I took NTL connection yesterday (analog service). A cable goes to NTL box from wall. Another cable goes to aerial socket of TV from NTL box. My TV has no scart. It has only R/F cable input. My NTL box has two sockets (other than one which goes to TV R/F) - a red one and a white one (marked as Audio/Video).

Now my question is, how do I attach my camcorder or DVD player to the TV? I repeat my TV doesn't have any scart or any other input (it only has R/F coaxial input). The NTL box has no scart.

Is it at all possible to connect DVD player to this TV thru NTL box?

Also, do I need to keep the NTL box switched on all the time? If I switch it off, do I lose all my channel settings?

First off welcome to the site

You don't have to keep your STB on all the time just switch it to standby, it use's less electricty than a clock radio does and the only time I've ever heard of them overheating is when they've been wrapped up in lacy doilly thingies.

As for the DVD/Camcorder how did you connect them before? there shouldnt be any difference. There isnt any way of connecting through the analogue boxes without running the risk of screwing up your pictures, and even the digi boxes only use a scart pass through so that you still need scart on the TV.

The question of connecting before was different because I arrived in this country recently. There is an old TV is my apartment without any scart or audio/video input. So, I was wondering how to connect camcorder/DVD player to the TV. My camcorder has 3 cables, yellow (video), red (R audio), white (L audio). I wonder why the yellow one is missing in NTL STB and then where do I put the video cable - in the red socket (which is written as video in STB)? And after doing that how do I view the picture on TV? Which channels do I select on STB to view the output from camcorder? The TV doesn't seem to have any separate AV channel.

I am afraid that the short answer is that you cannot connect your camcorder or DVD to the TV unless you buy a a/v input RF modulator, typical price seems to be about £30. You might want to get one that will combine in the RF output from the NTL box rather than having to buy an RF combiner or swapping the cables over.

The sockets on the NTL box are audio out so not much use to you for this.
