NTL Webspace Loading Very Slow
Hello,
My NTL website
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/bilko66/ is very slow loading. (99% of the time)
Anyone shed some light onto what's causing the problem?
Thanks.

Re: NTL Webspace Loading Very Slow
Just trying it it again and it seems fine, but it goes through long periods where it just takes a lifetime to load.

Re: NTL Webspace Loading Very Slow
well according to ntl-home's own service status page here there's gonna be some problems. I guess it depends where it may be cached on the way. Mine comes up fine until I try and Alt-F3 refresh it, where it fails to load completely.
Can't quite believe after 4 days it still ain't fixed tho

Your page loads fine for me here, and refreshes ok too.
BTW have you tried ctrl +f5 for a refresh... i have not heard of using alt + f3 myself....

I can't comment on other browsers, but Alt + F3 does nothing in IE5 or IE6.

Re: NTL Webspace Loading Very Slow
Alt-F4 I always use myself.
If its any help the site currently loads nice and quick for me. Intermittent problems are the worst though as you'll have steam coming out your ears everytime someone tells you its fine

Re: NTL Webspace Loading Very Slow
Thanks for the replies.
Still slow as anything, with the odd period of normal loading. :-(

just to be clear, there are 2 parts to the process - the 'domain' and the 'hosting'.
the domain ( the 'name' of the website e.g. microsoft.com - hehe you can't have that one ) is yours - you can buy one from a third party or I-Web will buy one on your behalf - (although, as I understand it, there may be an intermediate deal where they will host you a site on a domain they still own ? )
So yes - the hosting, if you already have your own domain name, you will only pay a webhost their fee for putting 'you' on their server and running the account.
I have to declare I also use I-Web - a *.com domain & the basic package is about £20 a year, for me, I think - so cheap I rarely think about it.

Re: NTL Webspace Loading Very Slow
To refresh in IE, Mozilla you use the F5 key, to hard re-fresh you use the CTRL+F5 key combination.
As it appears some are getting a little confused with which key combinations to use.

Re: NTL Webspace Loading Very Slow
On the topic of slow loading webspace I'm having no problem accessing mine but someone trying to view it is getting nothing, the page is just hanging
Can someone check this link and let me know if they can access the page and if there is a status frame in the middle of it?
My homepage linkage
it seems strange that images linked to from my webspace (my sig line for example) are loading fine but he cannot access the webpage based in the webspace
