Nildram = quality
I just signed up for a BT line (got installed on Monday) and Nildram ADSL (dsl500) and am pleased to say that the service I've received so far puts NTL in the shade.
Sure it costs a bit more to start with but for my money I get a ADSL modem/4 port router (which will do until I buy one with a firewall), which is fully managed by them and a static IP with a choice of buying more.
The only problem I've had so far is that the websites for Plusnet and Nildram do not seem to accept Solo debit cards.
After trying to decide between those two, I went for Nildram due to the static IP option.
BT too, have been good - my install was booked for the 28th but I got a text message to my mobile phone on the 26th saying that an engineer didn't need to visit and that my phone line had been activated.
The sales girl for BT was also excellent and covered everything, making sure I was entirely happy with everything.
So far, so good.

Glad to hear it all worked well.

I take it by the fact its a managed router that you are on the business service. What is the router (make model) any good ?

I'm on the 1 meg Nildram service, due to upgrade to 2 meg in 3 days time, I can't fault it, excellent customer service, great technical support open 24x7, all the technical problems I had with Pipex have gone and no migration fee.

No, I'm on the standard home 512k service.
They just said it's a "managed router", so they'll fully support it if I get any problems.

I know three people on Nildram and all say good things about them.

Re: Nildram = quality
I just got my router delivered this morning and they emailed my account details and technical connection info yesterday so hopefully I should be back online sometime this weekend.
I'm glad they've kept me informed every step of the way and the whole process is a lot more simple than I imagined.
If I'd known how easy it was then I would have migrated to DSL a liong time ago!

Re: Nildram = quality
Erm...
I'm posting this from home.
I got home from work and like a kid with an XMas present, I couldn't help unpacking and plugging in the router.
When I switched it on it the DSL link light came on so I though "WTF?" so went through my welcome letter and configured my IP settings and here I am!
It's confusing because my activation date is on Tuesday and it's only Friday.
It also seems to be much faster than my old NTL 1MBit line which leaves me even more confused.
10/10!

BT probably activated you early, you're set up on Nildrams radius server I think earlier than your activation date, so if some bored engineer decides to get ahead of himself you're in luck.

Re: Nildram = quality
It's definitely working properly too - my static IP has the correct DNS as well.
The only thing is, I can't seem to access the router over the browser or telnet for some reason but that's no real problem at the moment.
BTW Bifta - do you use the static IP option?

I don't use a static IP, I'm too paranoid that someone will end up DOS'ing me so I prefer it to change occasionally, just in case.

Re: Nildram = quality
OK thanks anyway.
I was just wondering about their reverse DNS thing.
At the moment, it's my username.gotadsl.co.uk but I wanted to know some stuff about changing it.
