TVDrive HDMI Sharp LC-37GA3E Problem

I had my V+ box installed yesterday (although it's actually a silver TVDrive) all OK except when I connect via HDMI to my Sharp LC-37GA3E (using a HDMI to DVI cable) the picture is offset to the left by about a third of the width of the screen (when set to widescreen).

I can move it to the right using the horizontal position adjustment on the TV and adjusting the clock setting helps too but with these controls fully to the right the picture is still about 3" to the left (i.e. with the left side of the picture missing).

The info on the technical page tells me:

HW Version: 1.7
SW Version: 2.1.7.1
Build: 20061013

The picture is correctly centred if I use the component connection but I really want to use HDMI as my DVD player connects through component.

I would be very grateful for any help, many thanks.

Re: TVDrive HDMI Sharp LC-37GA3E Problem

Interesting!

I'm not sure I can be that much help, but in the early days of TVDrive all the programmes on widescreen were offset by an amount.

This was fixed by a software update around July-ish last year. My first thought was that this was the case in your box, and you should call Virgin CS for an update.

However, I switched on my TV and looked up the "technical stuff"

I have
HW type: n/a
HW Version: n/a
SW Version: 1.5.8.107
Build 20061013

So while the build date looks to be the same, it would appear I have an earlier version than yours.

Sorry I can't be more help, but at least you have some info

Dan

Re: TVDrive HDMI Sharp LC-37GA3E Problem

Thanks Dan, Virgin did some kind of check or update for me yesterday when I rang them but it didn't make any difference. They, of course, said it's a fault with my TV but it works fine from my PC so I would guess it's a fault/feature of the TVDrive.

Re: TVDrive HDMI Sharp LC-37GA3E Problem

I may sound like a newbie here (actually, coming to think of it i AM a newbie). But i had a similar issue with my Sharp TV. I fixed it by going into the settings on the V+ box and changing it from 1080 to 1080 widescreen (keep pressing the right arrow button).

Not sure if this is the same problem, but it drove me mad for ages!

Re: TVDrive HDMI Sharp LC-37GA3E Problem

My HDMI screen is too low (3" from top) on some broadcasts (mainly Sci-Fi)so i can see the sound track flickering away at the top - but this isn't consistant for all broadcasts

Fixed! - the DVI input on the TV was set to PC Digital - changed this to AV Digital and it's now correctly cented. Thanks for your help.
