Re: correctconnect problems
First things first - where are you? Secondly have a try of pulling the power leads out of the back of the modem for 30 seconds. Switch your pc off then put the power lead back in the modem. Once the lights have stablised reboot the pc and see if that helps.
As for correctconnect, one word - uninstall! You don't need it. It's about as popular as a fart in a lift.
Welcome to the site btw

Re: correctconnect problems
Welcome to NTHW Kerry.
Ok first things first what are you system specs as to be honest that is not usually a problem if if they are not ideal but we as well eliminate that from the mix.
CPU Speed
RAM Total
Operating System (98, ME XP etc.)
Internet Explorer Version.
Next part is the connection problems which are more likely to be down to NTl than your system I think.
Have you tried following any of the advice about setting a proxy in your internet options and if not would you like a step by step guide of how to do that?

Re: correctconnect problems
kerry i second what russ says, we had correctconnect and constantly had a cac connection speed and probs with the network, in the end i decided just to get rid of it...it is of no benefit......
out of interest what version of msn have you got we had 6.1 (somehting) and we couldnt get it to connect, so went back to 6.0 and its fine now

Re: correctconnect problems
OK short answer is that no you don't need to have correct connect installed for the Net to work. It gets installed as part of the original setup to register the modem but once that has been done it serves little or no purpose and at times gets in the way on some systems if resources are low.
Pretty well everyone in the Bedford area had problems during the same period as you did but, for now at least, things are running a little smother even without using a special proxy.
If its gets bad again just post a note here and I or one of the others will walk you through setting up a proxy but for now you don't need to make any changes especially if it's all running ok now.
