Techwood 32" LCD HD Ready TV

My brother is after a cheap 32 HD tv and came across a Techwood 32" LCD HD Ready TV on the Woolworths site for ÃƒÆ’Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£379. I bought a Bravia a few weeks ago and am delighted with it but he doesnt wanna spend that much and will mainly use it for his Sky+ and Xbox 360. Cant find any reviews on this tv , does anyone know if its any good?

I got the Bravia for myself and its mint. My brother is miserable and wont spend the money on one, he squeaks when he walks hes that tight, so i thought when i seen the Techwood one in Woolworths it would have done him.

Picked it up tonight...The xbox looks really good on it, i was pleasantly surprised...His Sky tv however looks MINCE to say the least...He's using he scart cable he got with his sky, will some decent scart cables make any difference?

A decent quality fully-wired SCART cable (Monster, IXOS, etc.), with the Sky box set to output RGB SCART, should improve it (assuming the TV can take RGB over SCART...most can).

However, it may not make that much of a difference....some HD TVs (especially cheap no-name ones) are really crap at displaying Standard Definition images, & this can be even more noticeable on 32" screens & above (as most 32", 37", & even some 40" or bigger screens have the same 1366*768 native resolution that 26" screens have, so they have the same no. of pixels, they're just bigger).

It has 2 scart sockets and says both support RGB. We had the Sky box in scart 2 and assumed it was RGB but i changed it to Scart 1 and it looks a helluva lot better.

I'd be surprised if it really did support RGB over both SCART sockets.

It most likely does only do RGB on SCART 1, hence the improvement.

Hi, I'm very likely going to buy one of these Techwoods today, I presume you connected the 360 to it via component?

What bothers me is that none of the online specs for this TV say it has component, just SCART, HDMI and "AV input" (presume this means composite?). But surely the 360 has to go through component to get true HD?

They have them on display in my local Woolworths, I could always inspect the back and look for the red green and blue slots, I guess....

Do monster cable make "that" much difference? I appreicate that they using cheap cables is pointless but the do they justify the cost? Some of them are as costly as a DVD recorder.....

is it any good then, been looking at the AOC and This and That

all very similarly priced, any views on them? as looking to buy in next few weeks.

My AOC is the L32W551T
looks great, pic is fab thru my VM cabvle box and packard bell DVD, I also run a hard disk media player and the HD captured stuff from the US, like Heroes etc looks fab.
No complaints at all.

My Techwood 32" arrived yesterday, for the record it does do component and the 360 looks fantastic on it. Low Def Sky looks passable, I've yet to try my HDMI upscaling DVD player. A bargain for the price!
