Two types of Quality of Service features are available, Wired QoS which controls devices plugged in to the router with a Ethernet cable, and Wireless QoS, which control devices that are wirelessly connected to the router.

In all the latest versions of firmware i remember reading linksys added QoS if it could handle it... So, i would go with a firm YES.

Re: Linksys WRT54GS & WUSB54GS £49.99

Excuse my ignorance is this what I need?

I have a single laptop with a wireless card inserted in my laptop (will this work up to 2mbs or are there differing cards for speeds)?.

Currently need a new router as Telewest don't supply one anymore and give you a credit to get one. Have upgraded to 2mb service, will the speedbooster make any difference to me or do I just need the router?

Thanks for any help but old fogey and just want to plug something in and go as much as possible.

If I were you and you're just planning on using wireless connection for the internet as opposed to for example, streaming movies from / to PC's on a network, you're probably better off just getting a wireless G router on its own (the WRTG54 is about £40 from Ebuyer). The card you're using now will be fine. The card that comes with above router uses USB to connect to the laptop as opposed the card you're using now which is almost certainly PCMCIA, which is a much neater solution than a seperate USB card. If need be you can get a seperate PCMCIA card later, should you need the extra speed for networking.
