Exclamation Reduced bill

Hi, I noticed the £30 deal that NTL are advertising on the TV at present and called up customer services asking why my bill was over double that even though I thought I had a basic package.
The lady on the phone suggested she may be able to do me a deal! I said ok whatâ₠¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s that, she then went on to tell me she could take £8 off of my monthly bill! I made sure she repeated that nothing on my package or agreement would change which she confirmed.
How is it that NTL can just do that, I means how long I have I been paying that extra £8 for.
So I'm now paying £45 for 1mb broadband, Family package Tv and Free evening and weekend calls. (Obviously I called customer service during the day before dinner time to get through to them.)

Re: Reduced bill

In my opinion you pay what you think the service is worth.

IE I pay £35 p/month for 10Meg broadband which i think is a good price for a great service, 1.18MB/s, I wouldnt be without it, well worth £35 or am I just rich?

As for getting anything faster I dont see the point!

if you went on 10mb like, you would want to go back to 1mb, you get so use to it, its like going from broadband back to dial up if you know what i mean lol.

Re: Reduced bill

I'm currently paying £24.99 for 4MB Broadband. I kept getting three for £30 offers every week. I phoned up and asked could I have the three for £30 but keep the 4MB broadband as I didn't want to downgrade to 1MB as this would make the offer uncompetative with what else was available on the market and I was used to 4MB broadband now. I mentioned Skys free broadband and the fact I would like Digital TV but not prepared to pay for a phone line I didn't want as I am a VOIPFONE customer. They came back with a deal of £21.99 for six months 4MB broadband TV select pack and Telephone with free weekend calls. After the six months it will go up to £26.99. It doesn't quite beat the sky free broadband with two select packs for £15 and BT phone line that worked out about £31.00, but I am happy with the offer for now that NTL given me and think its about right especailly being a customer for six years. Looking forward to VOD. Don't know if anyone saw the Money Program on Tuesday but it seems we have been being ripped off in this country for years compared to similiar products in the rest of Europe shame I can't move to Paris where lines calls TV and VOD cost the equivalent of £20. NTL could offer so much more VOIP HDTV WIFI Calls etc etc but I at the moment I think NTL have got there heads in the sand and I think the quadplay virgin deal is not going to be that much of a hit epecially if they get the price wrong. Will see what September brings.

PS May I suggest people go to the BBC2 webpage and watch this weeks Money Program a real eye opener.
