Skype webcam problems

Hi all
having some problems with Skype webcam features.
In Skype, when I am chatting to somebody with a webcam, I can not see the video feed at all, a large Grey like box opens and no video.
This is also the same case when I try to use my own webcam.
I have downloaded all the latest drivers for the webcam, and the camera works great with its own software, but in skype, I can not receive nor send Video.
I have downloaded the latest version of the webcam drivers and of Skype also.
I have tried it with Norton security suite onand Off - still no difference
Any help would be great.

If I check the options, and use the Test webcam feature in Skype, the same thing happens, grey box opens only and nothing else.

Re: Skype webcam problems

Your webcam might not be compatible with Skype. I had this problem with an older webcam that used an unusual driver. Have a look at http://forum.skype.com/viewtopic.php...ghlight=webcam

Can you borrow another webcam, just to make sure that the problem is not with your Skype settings?

Re: Skype webcam problems

Are you using version 2.5? If so, downgrade to version 2.0 - the video feature was broken for many users in 2.5 in exactly the manner that you describe. The only known fix at this time is to downgrade back to the old version.

See here: http://forum.skype.com/viewtopic.php?t=54411&highlight= for more details on the problem. You can download the older versions from http://www.oldapps.com/skype
