Internet dropped out, problems since

Hello,

Just having a bit of a problem. My internet connection (4megabit) has been working fine for weeks. However, Earlier this evening, the internet connection just dropped out completely randomly for about 10 seconds, then came back. However, when it came back, the speed has dropped from 4 megabit to barely 200 kilobits.

When it first came back, the speed was around 700, then it gradually decreased to 600, 500, 400, 300 and now seems to have about stabilised on 200. Luckily doesn't seem to be going lower, but it's not getting any higher.

Any ideas what could have happened or if there's any way to restore the normal speed? I've tried power-cycling the modem, to no avail. (I'm convered by the Luton exchange). After it happened, I still have my same IP, and the modem still shows the 4 megabit limit, so I don't think I've been lowered (I'm not a heavy user, so I would't have thought that would have happened).

Thanks in advance
