Hi all, i have problems, Router one's !!
I am new on here, but have been refered here by a good friend on here.
My problem is, i have NLT broadband vie a stand alone modem, on my main pc, i also have a second pc (laptop) which i am trying in vain to get connected to the broadband modem via a new Wireless router.
The router i have just got is a "Belkin wireless G+ MIMO Router" to connect to my main pc and a "Belkin Wireless G+ MIMO usb adapter" to go with the laptop.
my broadband is connected via the usb blug (back of modem) to usb on pc, however i have to change this to ethernet lead for the router. When i change this cable and go through all the set up of the router i get to the very last bit where it looks for the internet connection, but it can never find it !!! What am i doing wrong ? Any help please

Can I check the very basics. When you swap over from your current USB connection, you do power off the modem and computers, disconnect all the USB leads, then plug in the ethernet lead between router and modem, with PC connected only by ethernet to the router? Only then, with ethernet wires connected, and USB disconnected, should you power on modem, let settle, then router , let settle, then the PC.

Re: Hi all, i have problems, Router one's !!
Can you post the exact model numbers of the Belkin kit you have? Are your PCs Windows XP or something different? .
Concentrate first on getting the modem <> router <> wired PC connection running first. Later you can setup the wireless stuff for the second PC.
Does your PC have ethernet or USB connections? For setup purposes you want to be able to use ethernet between the modem and router, and router and PC.
Normally you shouldn't need to load any new software for the router to establish connection with your PC. If you look in network connections from windows control panel, is your network card enabled?

Re: Hi all, i have problems, Router one's !!
Hi
I have the same problem with my laptop. Cannot get internet access although it is connected to the router which sometimes recognises its presence.
1. It is not the router (Netear WGT624v3) as I get internet access using a USB wireless adapter.
2. It is not the laptop (Acer 1694) as I got internet access through two Belkin routers (unprotected networks). I could not get the internet with two other NetGear routers and one other Belkin.
3. The routers with which I could not get internet access were all NTL. I do not know, of course, the ISPs of the two Belkin routers.
My own conclusion is that the problem is with NTL but I do not know the solution. If you do a google search you will find that it is a common problem with apparently no known solution. I use my USB wireless adapter.
My advice is do not waste your money buying another router but try a USB wireless adapter. Borrow one first if you can.
