NTL/DVD/TV Connection problem

Hi,

I have ntl digital stb, tv and combi dvd/vcr all with 2 scarts. The tv is new and I am having trouble with the connection of all the scarts and leads. Anyone know the best way to connect? Also having trouble tuning the video/dvd channels 1-6 with 6 being digital. How is this done?

Thanks

to Cable Forum

The first thing is that all scart cables are not necessarily equal. Some won't pass signals both ways. Make sure they are the full 21 pin types.

My preferred wiring with scart would be:
STB # 1 > TV in #1
STB #2 > DVD/VCR in #1
DVD/VCR out #2 > TV in #2

Tuning the video will be done using the AV channel settings rather than channels 1-6. channels 1-6 (or other numbers) are received via co-axial aerial, not scart. If you want you can daisy chain a co-axial aerial from teh RF out on the STB to the VCR and then to the TV as a duplication of the scart leads.

Re: NTL/DVD/TV Connection problem

hi

bit of a crap picture, but you can connect like this for the basic stb - vhs - TV setup

http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/at...4&d=1129407405

then the DVD could either use the second scart on the vhs/dvd recorder to scart 2 on the Tv - or use any S-video or component connections, available.

Best you look in your manual for tuning in the recorder, most have an 'auto' function, that will do it for you, but bear in mind that unless you have an external aerial, or a bypass unit fitted, trying to tune in the signal from the stb will only find one channel.

<edit> to acknowledge Robs post - I think we are saying basically the same thing, just I type slower
