Who to call/write to to cancel AOL account
I have noticed ( my fault for not doing so before) that I have been paying AOL 15.99 per month for a service that I have not had for 6 years!!
I dont have AOL on my computer.. I have been with NTL .. tv+phone+broadband for that length of time.
Who do I contact to cancel. My credit card company wont accept cancellation till they have a letter from me to AOL requesting cancellation
Thanks for help

Re: Who to call/write to to cancel AOL account
you'll need to phone AOL Customer Services on 0870 320 2020 and explain the situation.

Ouch, that's a costly mistake to have made

Re: Who to call/write to to cancel AOL account
He should get it back dated and a refund. If however he has logged into any service since they may turn it against him.
What about using that "say no to 0870" site for a better number?

He *should* get most of that back if he tries hard enough.

How would you claim it back though? If he just stopped using it without informing them and they refunded him the money, then I would say that he had asked them on a good day and to thank his lucky stars

Re: Who to call/write to to cancel AOL account
Write a letter tonight, backdate it to June 4th 2000, print it out then stain it in some coffee... bingo - there's the proof that you sent them a letter requesting cancellation 6 years ago.
Y'never know. It might work

The postal mark would say otherwise...

Re: Who to call/write to to cancel AOL account
How do you not notice £15.99 going out of your account every month for six years for a service you don't use?
Do you ever look at your statements?

Re: Who to call/write to to cancel AOL account
I did say in my original post that it was my fault. I do look into my statements.. and should have done it earlier. When I first noticed this I did call barclaycard and advised them to cancel the standing order but they had said that they needed confirmation from AOL.
AOL would have a record of when I asked them to help me uninstall the software. since which time I have bought a new computer. Quite frankly I have written off the amount already paid. I just dont wish to pay any more. If I do get some money refunded, I will count myself lucky!
As I said.. a costly mistake and can only blame myself for procrastinating.
Shall let you know how I get on!
Cheers!

Re: Who to call/write to to cancel AOL account
It should be a Direct Debit rather than a standing order? I can cancel DDs on my Internet Banking with hardly any effort, seems strange that they need confirmation, threaten to cancel your account and see what they say then
