Help with Wanadoo screw up!

Arrrghhhh -- ok thats better...

Right - short story is as follows.

Jan 06, call up Wanadoo to cancel my account with them as I was moving house to an area with cable phone connections. Fine, or so you would think.

Check my back statements, yep no more bills going out for 'Wanadoo' or similar as before. Great I think.... err well no actually. Last month after doing a little tidying up and all round check-up of my bank acc I discovered a mystery 'cash' payment of £27.99 going out at random times each month. I do a little digging around only to discover that Wanadoo have been charging me for my 'disconnected' broadband account.

I of course get them on the phone and find out they have taken nearly £140 from my acc since Jan 06, 'but you will get it back sir' says the helpfull chap on the phone, 'When?' I ask, he replies 'Next month sir.' .... I obviously object to being made to wait a month to get my £140 back at which point im advised that it will actually now go into my acc before the end of May.

Today - May 26th, no sign of the money with a 3 day weekend coming up. I call up Wanadoo to be now told 'Sir you money will go back in on June 5th.' WTF? I keep my cool with the young fella on the other end and ask to speak to a member of managemt. 'Sorry sir, we only have team leaders, you have to write to this address to make complaints'.

So to end, does anyone have any contacts with Wanadoo, or indeed a phone number of a head office anywhere? I find it very hard to believe that the only method of contacting anyone about this screw up is via 'snail mail'. Its not like ive been overcharged by a month or two, its bloody £140! Money I needed before the end of this month as promised.

Its all Bollox I tell ya!

Re: Help with Wanadoo screw up!

Thanks Neil,

Just for future ref if anyone has issues. I did some digging around and found some info. Dont let the ppl in the call centres fob you off with the 'We have no number to give you' routine, its total rubbish. There is infact a customer relations number you can call on 0113 298 2005.

I just spoke to a very helpfull chap by the name of *** **********at that number who told me I should have infact been offered a cheque as I asked for on May 4th when I called up the CS.

Bahh,, its crackers what we have to put up with.

You may have got through to the Garlands call centre at Middlesbrough. They handle CS and tech for wannadoo and they are the biggest joke outfit going.

Honestly ntl have their issues but the standard of agent at Garlands is dire.

Re: Help with Wanadoo screw up!

wanadoo are truely pathetic as my friend has experienced. her ADSL was down for WEEKS and tech support said it was a BT line fault WHICH THEY COULDNT FIX! they still charged her though - when I found out, I sent her links re wanadoo and their LLU mass migration - she challenged wanadoo about this and they eventually admitted all the problems were due to her line being screwed up by LLU and refunded her 6 weeks charges. they'd even lied that BT was investigating her line - utter **** bags.

---------- Post added at 11:28 ---------- Previous post was at 11:27 ----------

they will be rebranded as Orange and from around 1st June be offering free broadband if you sign up an 18month (perhaps 24 month) mobile contract. (so say the rumours)

ARRRGH the Daft buggers charges me again!

Will this torment never end? They now owe me £167! APPARENTLY this has been credited back to my acc and should be there before next monday..... yeah right!

On the plus side they did suspend my payments on the 2nd line I have with them (different address) so no payments till October.
.... not that it makes it ok for them being so ****e!

You might get a better result through speaking to your bank.
