10mb in the north east

hey guys just some questions about the telewest upgrades....

found out like most last year they were gonna upgrade the lines to 10mb for 2mb and 4mb customers (i was a 2mb customer)
last year in november we had crap internet for about 4 weeks while i guess they were doing work, checked the website and it says whilst work is on going you can experience problems...so i thought fair enuff
also read that they will contact each customer DIRECTLY according to the site and i havent received any correspondance at all???

have other ppl received any letters/calls?

atm im getting decent upload speeds most of the time, above 40kb/s a lot of the time but download varies considerably...
during the day it can stay around the 2mb area if not slightly slower (just did a speed test today and its about 500 :S, maybe just a 1-off)
but at night it can scream all the way up to 10mb, when downloading from microsoft my mate got 1200kb/s download which is fantastic
just wondering if everyone in newcastle has actually been upgraded?? it does say on the site north east complete.....

also i have a surfboard 4200 modem
is this compatible with the 10mb speeds?

is there anything i can do to increase my DOWNLOAD speeds during the day? (ie modem properties)

cheers
gonna ring telewest at some point to ask them too, wish me luck

Re: 10mb in the north east

We were upgraded towards the back end of last year.

I have the 4MB service and it rarely achieves its full speed. Newcastle is a bad area for Telewest.

Where abouts do you live?

I live in Jesmond. I blame the terrible connection on all the other students downloading 24/7 lol

How can I tell if I have been upgraded?Once the upgrade is complete in your area, you will receive notification via emailfrom blueyonder. The website at http://www.blueyonder.co.uk/evenfaster will also be updated once your area is completed.....

I got that info from here item 3 http://anniebrion.myby.co.uk/evenfaster-faq.html#para1

Re: 10mb in the north east

i rang them up and they said id been upgraded a while back - doh
ran speed tests and checks still getting around 2mb most of the time

the guy on the phone said it was their internet TV service sucking all the bandwidth and they are supposed to be upgrading the pipes at some point
meanwhile i get to mess about with the modem settings to see if it makes any difference
