more upgrade delays?

I spoke to Telewest about a month ago and they said the Yorkshire area would be getting upgraded before 20th Dec.

Then 3 weeks ago on their webiste it said all works would be completed by 14th Dec - wooohooo!

Now it just says "to be announced" - along with other areas that did have dates for completion.

So why the sudden halt?

anyone got any answers for me!??

Where did you find a list with area completion dates?

Re: more upgrade delays?

Well thats different to what I spotted on their page the other week for Yorkshire. It said service effecting issues between 27th Nov and 5th Dec and to be completed "to be announced". So after getting loads of money back for bad service/connection, I asked about Yorkshire area. They said my account had been upgraded on their computer system, so it would be on new speeds very soon? When the 7th or 8th engineer came out to try and fix my problems last week, he said they were nowhere near completing it. He said it could be middle of Jan before we get it

I've go used to their lies and lack of customer service, but then again I keep getting refunds and free services because of it .

Just tell them you've already done it more than once, and when it didn't help you decided then to phone TW. You'll get put through to the next tier of support who are more helpful in my experience

I'm in Plymouth and when I phoned up to ask about the upgrades in my region, the engineer said they expected us to be done around July time.

Re: more upgrade delays?

Just to let everyone know the upgrades are to be done by early 06. So nothing is delayed yet. When march/april 06 is about and still no upgrade then you can moan.

Re: more upgrade delays?

I'm in dundee and have already been upgraded *ducks to avoid projectiles*, but what i found was that my modem was constantly going to recieve mode for about a week or so, then out of the blue, i was getting mega DL speeds.

thought i was upgraded...but then speeds went back to normal, it happened a couple more times, then about a week later i was up there permanently.

suppose what i'm getting at is, keep an eye on your DL speed and modem, if they;re acting a bit weird/ spurious, you're prob not far off.

Re: more upgrade delays?

well the 20th has come and gone, and no upgrade - god damn it!

the evenfaster website still says to be announced.

my connection is still up and down allday, and has been like it since friday, apparently congestion and signal to noise ratio problem (SNR). Telewest were laying new black and blue cables in my street on saturday, so they must be replacing old cable, which is great, but they estimate another 9 days at least until the work will be complete.

in the mean time i have to sit and grin and bear it, with download speeds around 5kbs during peak times, and no connection for hours on end at times.
only time its workable is from 2300 until daybreak.

please pull your fingers out telewest!

Re: more upgrade delays?

*giggles maniacally*.

Telewest like every other ISP/telco/cableco will have a network freeze before Christmas that runs to January to avoid complications over the Christmas period.

In short, you aren't seeing upgrades until January, and the only work that'll be happening will be emergency work.
