Poor service... :(

Had bad service for about a week now. Slow browsing, yahoo.com now not displaying any more. Have tried both with and without my router making sure to power down everthing for a minute, then connecting with another minute wait before turning it all back on again.

I thought it would be because of the power surge we had the other night. (CV2 area) - but as Im typing this, while in a long NTL que, there is no indication of Coventry having problems.

Another thing I just noticed, my "rec" light flashes once, then my "ethernet" light flashes once and vice versa, which I am assuming is normal ? Anyways Ive never had a problem till recently Modem is an Ambit 250.

Downstream Receive Power Level : 8.2 dBmV (which im thinking is a little high)... ?

any help appreciated
tia

Well i'm nowhere near you and i get a full 10meg connection.
Have you tried re-booting your modem?
Have you rang tech support?

Seriously i would have a read through some of the other threads on this subject, it seems to be an ntl problem in parts, though yours may turn out to be something else.

yes and yes. The first guy said he couldnt do any tests on his end and was very dismissive. I gave him the same respect and hung up on him. The next guy I spoke to was very helpful. Ran all the tests I asked him to and he assured me all my levels were fine. We tried a few proxys all over the shop but no joy and then he went on to say I should sit tight for the next 2 or 3 days as they have been having DNS problems which is going to impact on most customers.

Sounds about right, its taken over a fortnight for mine to get back to being ok, they still lost a paying customer though.

That is high - you need to contact TS and get an engineer booked to look at it.

This max downstream power level always confuses me as mine is 10.3dBmV and i don't seem to be having any problems and always get max on 10mbit.

In the same boat yes in CV6. Feed up with it also. Looking to get adsl lower download amounts for same price but at least I'd be able to do some decent browsing and ftp that doesn't timeout all the time.

Re: Poor service... :(

my power levels go up and down faster than a chav girl's knickers. If I was to call out an engineer every time he'd be camping in my house.

If you have problems with yahoo, switch to another proxy.

Re: Poor service... :(

Power level is the RF power being recieved by the modem/stb and should remain constant. There could be newtork/rf issues which would affect this. I will PM you.
