I am sure I am paying too much

below is what I am paying NTL just checked online banking

D/D NTL GROUP LTD - 30.00 (Start of the month)
D/D NTL GROUP LTD - 43.36 (Mid month)

Total £71

I seem to be paying this on average every month, Our phone bill is normally around 5-10 pounds a month.

We have NTL, Currently
2MB broadband - £25 (I believe) The talk unlimted package which is extra £6, and family package which is give or take £20 this adds up to £50. I have a few questions.

Does the family pack include the scritption for the Phone line or I am paying around 10 pounds for that as well, as I ve explained avobe it does not seem to add up, and looks like to me that i might being overcharged.

Also - Ive noticed on NTL site they now have these value packs ranging around £30 a month, can I not just sign up to one of these as it seems I could save money this way. They never made me aware of this, unless this is for new customers only and one of these magic price deals.

Re: I am sure I am paying too much

Talk unlimted doesn't include phone line rental. Family pack includes line rental which is about £30.50 for family + line rental (can't remeber exactly). They may have changed al the prices since I last looked so may be wrong.

edit: talk unlimited is £14.50. family is £19.50 + £10.50 line rental. = total £45.50 + phone calls not on the talk unlimted. + £24.99 for BB = £70.49 total

So it looks about right.

You are able to get the value pack though, which would give you the exact same services for £49.99, just phone them up and ask to switch tariffs. I guess they will move you onto one bill at the same time.

You were right the first time, talk unlimited is £16.50 and includes line rental, you don't add that on again.

Assuming you don't have multiple set top boxes etc, that makes it...

£16.50 phone + say £5 calls + £19.50 for fam pack + £25 broadband = £66

What i would contest mate is the £30. The £30 could be what you are paying for Broadband as they bill it separately for me, so you coud be paying £5 over the odds for it. If they are, get the credit backdated to you.

They wont give you 3 for 1 deals when you have the family pack and talk unlimited etc (unless you want to downgrade), but if you tell them you are thinking of moving to BT/Sky, what they will do it take the £10 saving for a 3 for 1 deal off the price of your TV/Tel bill. Thats exactly what they did for me, so you end up with a £10 discount. Can't say fairer than that, cos knock £5 off tel and £5 off TV and they become very attractive packages.
