'Pace' box help needed
Hi anyone who can help,
I've had this new box all of 4days. The prob. is that the picture froze and nothing for a fair while so I turned it off at the mains. Plugged it back in, the front of the box was warming up, then nothing! All there is now is the number 8 on the front of the box and no signal on the channel. I've tried eveything I can think of, the remote wont work though. Batteries are fine but just no signal. The thing is well ventilated but it is still running quite warm, so maybe that is the issue. Any help would be appreciated for sure. Thanks, Joff

If after rebooting again, all you get is 8 or 8888 and no picture or anything, it's probably dead.

Hi Joff, and to CF!
Is it just '8', or '8888'? If you're in a Bromley area (previously Cable and Wireless Consumer), 8 is BBC3, I think.
Check the cabling connecting the STB to your TV - it's quite possible the SCART cable has just come loose!

Oh yeah! forgot about Bromley platform!!
He did say that the remote won't work either, so it doesn't sound too good....

Thanks for your response, I'll see how it is in the morning. Hopefully it just needs a kip....or a kick.

Re: 'Pace' box help needed
If its 888 then that relates to a "critical" error, which really speaks for itself.
If this is the case then STB will need changing.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

Re: 'Pace' box help needed
Not 888 (that's the channel number of Capital FM!), but 88:88 is the critical failure during self-check for Pace boxes.

For the ones that us mere users can check (which will show the signal levels) it's not up, down, blue but Page Up, Page down, blue.

Re: 'Pace' box help needed
make sure you wait until the now and next information bar has disappeared on the bottom of the screen before you do the page up, page down and blue button feature. Also make sure you on BBC 1 when you try and access it. See the Useful STB Info thread for further information.
