Dolby 5.1?
This may seem like a really amateurish question, but does any XBox games support Dolby 5.1 Surround sound, or is the digital optical output on the advanced scart lead just for DVDs.

Re: Dolby 5.1?
the xbox has a 5.1 encoder chip built in, so games can produce surround sound 'on the fly', for example you can tell which direction a gun shot came from etc etc. some games are awsome with 5.1, its particularly usefull for finding the snowmen in Amped

Must just be my amp set up then, at it just comes through as a stereo signal
EDIT - Perhaps if I took a moment to change the settings in the menu, doh!

Re: Dolby 5.1?
Yeah the "on the fly" dolby is fantastic! It really helps on online FPS cos you can hear if someone is coming up behind you

Re: Dolby 5.1?
5.1 is awesome as long as it has been encoded properly in the game and to be honest most of the games I have now or have owned sound brilliant.
Not many duff ones!
Amped2 demostrates how well 5.1 sounds.

Re: Dolby 5.1?
Does anyone else find that by enabling this option, games seem to take a performance hit? Comparing before and after, Halo seems to run at half the speed!

havent noticed that, and, afaik, the 5.1 is on a dedicated chip, so it shouldnt take processing from elsewhere, unless of coure it is because other stuff is 'blocking' waiting for the sound to encode....
