Can you get Teletext on NTL + a different remote for Samsung STB
I have two questions if anyone is able to offer any help please:
1) I only have NTL reception where I live there is no standard TV ariel, as a consequence I can't get Telextext on my TV. Does NTL have any channels offering this ?????
2) I have a Philips VL1200 wireless TV transmitter and a Samsung STB, I use this to view NTL upstairs in another room and it works great. However the box says NTL remotes will not work with this and it seems they are right, am I am to buy a generic or any other remote that will allow me to switch channels ?????
Many thanks for any advice.

The nearest NTL gets is the interactive service on the BBC channels. Normal Teletext does not work.

Samsung STBs use standard codes. They should work.

Not 100% on this but you may need to get a generic remote.

Yes, but not the normal BBC and ITV channels. Try BBC1 on 926 and BBC2 on 951. Also, the Sky, UKTV and EMAP music channels. In many cases the only teletext present is the subtitles on page 888.
Note I'm assuming you have ntl digital. I think the odd channel has teletext on analogue too.

It should work, but you may have to mess around with the sender positioning to get it to work reliably. Also, bear in mind wireless senders are prone to interference, e.g. from wireless LANs.
Isn't it funny how you can get three completely different replies?

Is the lack of teletext the same reason I can't get Guide Plus+ listings through my set top box?

No. GuidePlus is carried on ITV 1(I believe) analogue terrestrial. Not sure about freeview, but it isn't supplied in the digital signal that NTL and Sky recieve.

It is not possible to transmit teletext over the Freeview platform (not in the spec.) that is why NTL local channels (BBC, ITV, etc.) do not have teletext on NTL digital.
It is possible, however, to transmit teletext on NTL digital and some channels that are sourced from satellite do have teletext.

If you try Sky News on Channel 120 it provides a fairly comprehensive teletext service for news, sport, weather etc.
BBCi to me is a waste of time as it takes so long to load and move between menus that I tend to use my PC to find the same information. Is this common to all NTL boxes or is it just my ageing Pace box?
