What is the minimum contract length?

For the next few months I'll be in temporary accomodation, and I'd like a Broadband connection. I don't want to move my current connection, but is it possible to get anything less than 12 months?

What's a practical, affordable way to have BB for the next few months? (Otherwise, I might rely on lax security on someone's wireless router )

Re: What is the minimum contract length?

Supposedly, if you call up the moves dept. before the 12 months is up and give them a moving address that is not NTL cabled, they'll let you break out of the contract with no penalty. Of course, you will have to be a bit creative with what address you give them.

I'd wait to find out if that's still NTL policy though, it was at one point.

Re: What is the minimum contract length?

ntl BB comes with a 12 month contract.

Best thing would be to find an ADSL supplier that offers a 1 month contract (Bulldog for example)

But not Virgin

As Neil said, loads of ADSL suppliers do 1 month contracts, but as you stuck it in the NTL section I figured you really wanted NTL.

The BB service from NTL has been fine for me. Good reason to stick with them, but...

Good info about the ADSL - that sounds like a way to go.

Long shot here: I assume you're moving to a non-ntl area (otherwise you could just move your connection). You could see if you can take NTL's ADSL but have it classed as a move, rather than new contract as you're an NTL customer already. This way you would simply continue your existing contract, and the 12 months would not be an issue.

No, I want the original connection to stay - I just need something over the next few months.

I See. Then have a look at ADSL as suggested. Bear in mind though, that some providers have a 1 month contract, but have a 'penalty' if you decide to leave within 12 months
